Hybond adhesive trials confirm PUR foam gasket is a perfect fit for auto interiors.
Last week at Hybond, we had the opportunity to carry out a series of adhesive trials for a potential customer operating within the automotive interiors sector. The trials took place in our dedicated demonstration and testing area at our centrally located site, utilising Hybond on-site application machinery.
THE TRIALS
The trials focused on a two-part polyurethane (PUR) foam gasket adhesive, chosen for its ability to provide a strong, flexible bond, excellent sealing performance, and insulation properties — all critical for bonding in vehicle door assemblies, which were the specific requirements of the customer.
The formed-in-place gasket was produced through an automated process, replicating the customer’s real-world production line as closely as possible. This allowed us to simulate performance without disrupting their operations, giving their team an insight into how the adhesive would perform in practice.

THE OUTCOME
We’re pleased to report the trials went extremely well, with reliable application and excellent bond results. The customer was able to see the entire process, from dispensing to cure, without needing to halt their own production operations. The trials helped us to demonstrate that our product choice offers significantly improved memory performance in a shorter timeframe, without the need for additional heat. As a result, the customer would be able to remove drying ovens from their process — therefore streamlining production, reducing energy consumption, and simplifying their overall setup.
